Associate Program Scientist
(Full-time, Contract)

Sidrat Research works with partners to advance the bounds of scientific knowledge by providing innovative research and related services. We engage with our clients to deliver solutions at all stages of the research endeavour, ranging from project conception to infrastructure development to community engagement. Based out of Toronto, Canada, we work with teams across the globe at the leading edge of their fields. We engage the broader research community through developing tools, techniques, and training practices that help scientists get to their next discovery.


What You'll Do

As an Associate Program Scientist, you will work across a variety of projects related to specific science-, research-, and infrastructure-related projects for client-directed and internally led initiatives.

On a day-to-day basis:

  • You will work collaboratively with and lead teams to determine, prototype, and deliver solutions based on scientific and technical requirements
  • You will explore technologies and techniques across different fields and industries to find creative approaches to scientific challenges
  • You will produce and maintain technical, scientific, and project management documentation
  • You will communicate complex, technical concepts to a variety of stakeholders, ranging from external scientists to the broader public
  • You will conduct and lead scientific research as a part of internally directed initiatives
  • You will support systems and technological infrastructure used within the organization and the larger community

Successful candidates will have the opportunity to join new projects as they arise. Further, candidates will be encouraged to learn new skills and competencies as aligned with their enthusiasm and project requirements.

These are full-time positions on a one-year renewable contracts with the opportunity to become permanent. The positions are hybrid based out of our Midtown Toronto Offices.


What You'll Bring

The right candidates for these positions will bring:

  • A doctoral degree in Astronomy, Physics, Statistics, Computer Science, or other related technical field, or an undergraduate degree and equivalent experience
  • Experience conducting and contributing to scientific research in the Physical Sciences (Minimum 3 years)
  • Demonstrated experience working in a collaborative team environment
  • Demonstrated experience with scientific coding using Python/Numpy/Scipy, as well as the Git Version Control System (Minimum 3 years experience)
  • Proficiency in Windows and Linux computing environments, including command line tools
  • Demonstrated experience in science and technical communication to a public audience
  • Excitement to explore and learn new skills, tools, and technologies to find creative ways to apply them to scientific problems

While not necessary, well qualified candidates may also bring:

  • Proficiency with Docker/Container systems
  • Experience with relational database systems (e.g., SQL, Postgres, SQLite)
  • Experience in science communication to a public audience
  • Experience with JavaScript and Web Frameworks (e.g., React, Svelte)

All candidates must be eligible to work in Canada.
